In these times of rapid change, big topics are being raised in homes, online, and on the playground. Our students and colleagues are often at a loss as to how to process emotionally-charged topics with those whom they may not agree. How do we create a space in our classrooms where students can productively discuss what might feel undiscussable? How can we tread across cultural and political divides with respect? Employing the formal practice of dialogue can cool a conversation and make it both rich and educational. Using this methodology, we can also teach our students effective communication and the value of understanding multiple perspectives on polemic topics. Join us to learn more about how to bring dialogue into your class or staff room.
